New Zealanders are set to give a warm welcome to the golden girl of Olympic shot put, Valerie Adams, when she formally receives her winner's medal in Auckland this evening.
Having been denied the right to a full ceremony and the broadcast of the New Zealand national anthem during the London Olympics, Adams has waited over a month to be united with her rightful prize.
