KEY POINTS:
The chief executive of the Spirit of Adventure Trust and Citizens & Ratepayers candidate, John Lister, has been elected to the Auckland City Council following a by-election contested by eight candidates in the Avondale-Roskill ward.
Mr Lister edged out City Vision candidate Catherine Farmer by 414 votes in a low voter turnout of 26.1 per cent.
The by-election was brought about by the death of C&R councillor Linda Leighton in November.
