Auckland Council has approved several temporary liquor bans during the Rugby World Cup.
Overnight bans currently in place in Takapuna and at six transport hubs will be extended to 24-hour prohibitions.
Liquor bans for Albany and Northcote will also be extended to cover a wider area.
The Council also approved a temporary 24-hour ban for the walking route from Eden Park to Kingsland, effectively extending liquor bans already in place for the central city.
Meanwhile, the business community is already split into likely winners and losers from the tournament.
There's little optimism amongst retailers over the prospects for a windfall, but hospitality, tourism and recreation are expecting to be boosted by as much as 66 per cent.
The findings come in an ANZ Bank survey.
Spokesman Graham Turley says retailers and wholesalers are hoping for some rise in sales.
"A lot of retail firms will get a boost as we get closer to the Rugby World Cup, as opposed to hospitality, tourism and recreation are probably already receiving bookings," says Mr Turley.
