KEY POINTS:
An experienced linesman has been electrocuted while working on a power pole in Shannon, north-west of Palmerston North.
Barry Woodford, 45, of Paraparaumu, was one of two men in a cherry picker replacing a cross bar on a power pole.
Mr Woodford came into contact with a live power cable. He suffered burns to one side of his body.
Rescue services tried to resuscitate him, but he died within the hour.
The second man was uninjured.
