Auckland commuters got a preview into the city's next big rail project set to start next year.
Bright red lines painted on the ground around Britomart marked where the City Rail Link tunnels are set to be built. The tunnels will go from the central post office and under Queen St before heading up Albert St and through to Mt Eden.
The lines were coupled with the words: "The future is below you. The City Rail Link will head through here.
"Watch out for trains. The City Rail Link is coming this way."
The City Rail Link's project director, Chris Meale, acknowledged that work would change how the city looked over the next three years.
