Todd Gillespie took the line honours when the Masterton Cycling Club held their Mt Holdsworth and return handicap road race on Tuesday night. Gillespie had four seconds to spare from a hard-charging scratch bunch that was collecting other riders along the way. The sprint for second and third saw Jack Sowry and Bill van Woerkom take those places.
Fastest time honours went to Sowry, Van Woerkom and Andrew Linton, all of whom recorded 45min 01s and the women's division saw Lesley Mouat prevail in 48min 1s, Donna Burkhart was second and Sabella Thurston third.
The event attracted another excellent turnout with 49 riders in five groups heading off at 3-min intervals.
