About 12 vehicles, including a tourist bus, had to be towed after they were trapped by heavy snow in Lindis Pass in central Otago yesterday.
The highway between Omarama and Cromwell remains closed this morning.
It was closed due to heavy snow shortly before 5pm yesterday.
Kurow constable Craig Bennett told NZPA about 12 vehicles had to be towed from the highway after they became trapped in the snow.
People were working to clear the road and it was hoped it would be reopened this morning.
