Wairarapa sports clubs are being given the chance to be part of an initiative aimed at not only helping them save money but also to improve the country's environmental imprint.
Lighting company Philips is a supporter of LiteClub, which involves a dedicated team visiting community sports clubs to install free energy-saving products, including lighting, tap aerators and insulation.
To date 127 clubs across New Zealand have joined LiteClub and collectively saved more than two million kWhs of electricity, which equates to a saving in energy costs of more than $590,000.
Community sports clubs can sign up for LiteClub at the website www.liteclub.org.
