A light plane has crashed at Invercargill airport.
Invercargill fire station officer Geoff Timpany said the Piper Cherokee had been carrying only the pilot who was not seriously hurt.
The plane crashed on a grass runway designed for smaller craft.
"I don't know whether it was taking off or landing, but it's ... not too serious," Mr Timpany said.
Invercargill airport fire crew were first at the scene before the fire service arrived to assist them.
