A woman has lost her life savings, $22,500 in cash, somewhere in Masterton.
Senior Sergeant Jymahl Glassey said the woman withdrew the money from an ATM over the course of several days in order to make a cash payment on some building supplies.
The woman and her husband, who are new to Wairarapa, had decided to settle down in Masterton and purchased a house in August.
They were planning on making alterations to their section and the woman had withdrawn the money in order to purchase supplies as a surprise for her husband.
The woman placed the cash into five separate office envelopes labelled "Tam" and was carrying them in her handbag.
