The jury at the trial of the teenager accused of murdering former Kerikeri schoolgirl Liberty Templeman has just left the scene where her body was found.
It is day three of the trial at the High Court at Whangarei of the boy accused of killing and indecently assaulting Liberty.
The 16-year-old, who cannot be named due to a court suppression order, was 14 when police allege he murdered the promising drama student.
This morning the jury was taken by bus from Whangarei to Kerikeri where jurors viewed the creek on the outskirts on town where Libby's body was found on November 2, 2008.
Media were prevented from reporting the visit was taking place to prevent members of the public going to the scene while the jury was there.
Students' tributes to Liberty still stand at a bridge near where she was discovered.
The jurors were then taken to the accused's former home, where police allege they found a T-shirt covered in blood and buried in a plastic bag in bushes.
More than 40 witnesses are to give evidence during the trial before Justice Raynor Asher, which is expected to take at least two weeks.
