KEY POINTS:
The police investigation into the murder of Liberty Templeman in Kerikeri a week ago will continue over the weekend, despite the arrest of a teenager.
A 14-year-old boy, who was known to Liberty, appeared in the Kaikohe Youth Court yesterday afternoon accused of murdering the 15-year-old and indecent assault.
Far North police area commander, Inspector Chris Scahill says the investigation is far from over and a number of police staff will be working over the weekend and well into next week.
Officers will be trying to find Liberty's five or six-year-old Nokia cellphone, which has a cracked screen and has been missing since her death. Mr Scahill says police and Libby's family have been overwhelmed by the level of local support.
Hundreds of people, including the police officers who are working on the case, are expected to farewell the teenager at her funeral in Kerikeri today.
Funeral Director Anthony Kiely says the family wants the service to be uplifting for everyone. Liberty's casket is painted her favourite burnt orange colour and people attending the funeral are being asked to dress in bright colours.
