The Libertarianz Party will be comfirm its election candidates at the party's annual conference this weekend in Auckland.
The choice of Anzac weekend, says party president Scott Wilson, "was in part a reminder to delegates that our freedoms have been fought for over the years by successive generations to whom we owe a debt of gratitude".
This election the party intends to stand list candidates, and electorate candidates in at least thirteen electorates across the country, including Epsom, Wellington Central, Tauranga, Ohariu-Belmont, Hamilton East and West and Auckland Central.
"This is our opportunity to confirm nominations for our party list and electorate candidates, and to declare that the party this election will give every voter the chance to vote for freedom," Mr Wilson said.
The party was first registed in 1996, but says an "administrative error" meant it could not not stand list candidates in 2002, although it did stand five electorate candidates.
Mr Wilson conceded the party took a serious hit in 2002, but said he and his colleagues were "very encouraged" by local body election results last year in which 6 Libz candidates received 12,881 votes.
Party leader Bernard Darnton has been nominated to stand as the Wellington Central candidate.
