KEY POINTS:
Levin residents have been told to boil their water after heavy rain caused problems at the local water treatment plant.
The Horowhenua District Council issued the water notice today.
Levin is the latest town to be issued a boil water notice. Notices are already in place for Shannon, Mangaore and Tokomaru following power failures during the most recent storm, and residents in those areas are being asked to conserve their water use.
The council said in all cases, there was a small risk that new water entering the supply could be contaminated, and residents should boil water for drinking and food preparation.
