KEY POINTS:
Punakaiki, halfway between Greymouth and Westport, is the West Coast's biggest tourist drawcard for its Pancake Rocks.
But New Zealand Post seems to have no idea where it is.
Local businessman Ross Eddy says its taken nearly six months for an account posted in Westport, 50km away, to reach him.
Posted on April 17, clearly addressed to Mr Ross Eddy, PO Box 12, Punakaiki, West Coast, it turned up this morning, without any added markings to indicate where it might have been.
"This is just absolutely absurd," said Mr Eddy, who plans to frame it.
He realised months ago the bill had gone missing, made inquiries and paid it.
But he said the incident was another example of Punakaiki's atrocious rural mail service. Mail destined for Punakaiki regularly went to Paekakariki, Paraparaumu and Papatowai (in the Catlins).
