The view from the office window has been changing on an hourly basis.
The old Opera House building, standing just across the council car park, has been slowly disappearing, piece by piece.
First the roof was reduced to bare framing, then a digger knocked a hole in the walls and started pulling the structure down.
At some point, probably today, the last of it will be reduced to rubble. It's disappointing the building has to go, but there's no denying it's a fascinating sight to see something so old and solid disappear so quickly.
And it's a sight we'll be seeing much more often in the months to come, as several other buildings in Masterton face the bulldozers because they pose an unacceptable risk in an earthquake.
