Seasoned Masterton musician Lennie "T" Te Whare is aiming to trip the light fantastic with rock 'n' roll, Latin and line dancers at the Masterton Cosmopolitan Club.
Te Whare had teamed up with Wairarapa Social Dance Club founders Cheryl Gerill and Dave Wilson, he said, to put on a series of Dance Across the Floor events that will run at the Masterton venue for three hours from 6.30pm over the next six Sundays.
The multi-instrumentalist said he had learned to play the saxophone and, along with his electric guitar, would play a set list of "magic hits" to which dancers could step out a foxtrot, rumba, cha-cha, rock 'n' roll moves or line dancing.
"The dance floor at the Cossie is perfect because there's plenty of room - some of the dancers throw their partners and everything - and hopefully the Sunday evening gigs will be rewarding for them as well."
Entry to the Dance Across the Floor events is free and meals will be available as well, he said.
