Auckland Mayor Len Brown will open himself up to the possibility of angry citizens lambasting him in public when he resumes his "mayor in the chair" sessions on Friday.
Mr Brown has kept a low profile since December 19 when councillors censured him and expressed their "profound disappointment and disapproval" at his inappropriate behaviour and undeclared conflicts of interest.
The mayoral office has been working on ways to rebuild Mr Brown's shattered reputation after his two-year extramarital affair with aspiring local government politician Bevan Chuang was revealed.
Auckland Council today released the mayor's diary for the week ahead, which includes a "mayor in the chair" session in Pukekohe next Friday.
"People are invited to come along, wait their turn, then have a brief one-on-one chat with Len Brown, to ask questions or share their thoughts and concerns about their community," the council has previously said of the events.
