The family of a man shot dead by police a week ago are appointing a lawyer to help represent their interests in the police investigation.
Adam Morehu, 33, was killed after a break-in at the New Plymouth Golf Club about 4am last Saturday.
Silent alarms alerted police, and Morehu and an alleged co-offender, Kevin Bishell, 32, crashed while leaving the club on a motorbike.
A police dog caught Bishell, and Morehu shouted threats and then allegedly shot at the officers.
Police Tasered him and, as he was reloading his firearm, they shot him.
