KEY POINTS:
A learner driver was clocked at 180km/h yesterday.
He then pulled out previous tickets received for breaching his licence to show the traffic officer who stopped him.
Inspector Derek Erasmus, of the Canterbury Highway Patrol, said the 20-year-old man had been charged with dangerous driving and may face further charges.
He was caught driving at 180km/h in a 100km/h area about 11am and had offered no excuse for the excessive speed, Mr Erasmus said.
He had also had his learner licence suspended for 28 days.
