KEY POINTS:
The Government has appointed four people to the tribunal that will deal with leaky-home claims.
The Weathertight Homes Tribunal, which begins operations on April 2, aims to speed up resolution by offering a cost-effective and independent adjudication for claims.
The four members are Murray Carter, who has 15 years' adjudication experience; retired district court judge Simon Lockhart, QC; Susan Pezaro, who has been a disputes referee since 1992 and a tenancy adjudicator for six years; and Roger Pitchforth, former director of the Dispute Resolution Centre at Massey University.
They will join Patricia McConnell, who is now chief adjudicator of the Weathertight Homes Resolution Service, who will become chairwoman of the new tribunal.
It will have offices in Auckland and Wellington, the worst-hit regions. Hearings will be held around the country when required.
