One man who lives in the Eden Park vicinity and knows all about sport is Warriors player Micheal Luck. But the league captain says there will be little Rugby World Cup fever at his place.
"I'm from North Queensland where there's no such thing as rugby. So I appreciate some of the things they do on the field, they're great athletes.
"But I'm just happy to watch league and that's all I've got time for."
For the same reasons, the second-rower hasn't had any friends or family tapping him on the shoulder for a place to stay during the tournament.
"They're not really big rugby fans. It will just be [Luck and his wife] in the house."
Nor is there any temptation to rent his house out during the Cup.
"My wife has a baby due on 20 September, so we won't be going anywhere".
Luck said it "doesn't hurt" to be so close to the stadium when the Warriors have the occasional game there, but "Eden Park was never an attraction or detraction".
"That's just what's in the neighbourhood. It's a good street, a good area, with good schools around it and good neighbours."
Luck moved to Auckland at the end of 2005 after playing for the North Queensland Cowboys.
The forward quickly became a crowd-favourite because of his high work rate and durability, and frequently tops the Warriors' tackle count.
