Leads on mystery body

Police say they are following strong leads towards identifying the body of a woman found floating in water about 500m from the scene of the boating tragedy near Waiheke Island on Anzac Day.

The body, thought to be that of an elderly or middle aged-woman, was found as rescuers went to the scene on Wednesday morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Scott said police did not believe there were any suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman's death.

Police had received some information on the case but Mr Scott would not elaborate.
