John Key now has his first souvenir as Prime Minister for his office wall - the Apec leaders' official photograph in Lima, Peru.
The leaders of the 21 countries which make up the Apec block, and have control over half the world's economy, get dressed up in traditional outfits on the last day of the meeting.
Today they were given brown ponchos by their Peruvian hosts.
Last year in Sydney, Australia dressed the leaders in drover's coats and hats. New Zealand in 1999 dressed them in black merino sailing jackets.
It will be the last in which US President George W Bush appears. He has attended eight Apecs, the first being in Shanghai in 2001 just after the September 11 terrorist attacks.
Making an appearance for the first time with Mr Key are Australia's Kevin Rudd, Japan's Taro Aso, Korea's Lee Myung-bak and Russia's Dmitry Medvedev.
Barring accidents Mr Key will be at next year's Apec is in Singapore, then in Japan in 2010.
The Apec in 2011 election year will be in New York.
