Auckland lawyers are banding together next week to provide their services free-of-charge for people wanting to write or update a will.
Twenty-five firms across the city have signed up to the scheme, in support of the Mercy Hospice Make-a-Will Week.
A session takes around an hour and ensures your wishes and bequests are followed after you pass away.
Auckland District Law Society chairman Marcus Martin said many people wre unaware of how important a will was or assumed they did not need one because they were young and healthy.
"It's in everyone's interests that people have a will," he said.
"It ensures your wishes are adhered to, without a will there is no guarantee that this will happen."
Mercy Hospice will also host a public lunch at Freyberg Place on High Street on Monday between midday and 2.30pm, with lawyers on hand to give advice on making a will.
