KEY POINTS:
Latvian police have detained a New Zealand tourist for indecent behaviour - running in his underpants in front of a landmark statue in the capital, Riga.
The man - who was not named by police - was allegedly making rude gestures as he posed for pictures in front of the Freedom Monument that many Latvians regard as a symbol of their nationhood, Leta news agency said.
A Latvian police spokesman said the New Zealander had been charged with "minor hooliganism" and was likely to be fined.
