KEY POINTS:
Through all the ups and downs this year, National has maintained its big lead over Labour and there is no sign yet of the narrowing Labour hopes for in the campaign. If anything, the movement early in the campaign is the other way.
This is clear in the Herald poll of all the polls, which averages the findings of five published polls on a rolling basis.
National's average support has ranged from a high of 55 per cent to a low of 48 per cent. Its year-long average is 51 per cent. Labour's average support has ranged from a high of 37 per cent to a low of 30 per cent. Its year-long average is just under 35 per cent.
Among the smaller parties, the Greens still do the best. New Zealand First might be troughing, just in time to build through the campaign. But its average is still only half the 5 per cent it needs to stay in Parliament.
* The poll of polls is a rolling average of the four most recent polls at each point. Since five polls are included, one is necessarily missing from each point and sometimes a poll will feature twice. The five are Herald-DigiPoll, TV1 Colmar Brunton, TV3 TNS, Fairfax Nielsen and Roy Morgan (once a month).
