KEY POINTS:
Returning officers are expecting a last-minute rush of voting in the local authority elections, particularly in Auckland City where there has been a low turn out.
Polls close at noon and votes not in the hands of returning officers at the cut off will not be counted.
For people who have not voted, ballot boxes are available at council offices, libraries and at the Independent Election Service's office at 360 Queen St, which is acting for Auckland City, Manukau, North Shore, Papakura and Franklin voters.
The election will determine the membership of the regional and city councils, community boards, district health boards and licensing trusts for the next three years.
The first results are expected to be available on council websites from 1pm and also at www.nzherald.co.nz from that time.
