Last-ditch talks on doctors' strike

Last-ditch talks to prevent strike action by the country's junior doctors resume today between the union and district health boards.

Hospitals have started cancelling elective surgeries as they prepare to cope on drastically reduced staff numbers should the doctors push ahead with the strike tomorrow.
