Wairarapa residents eligible for free flu jabs have just over a week left to get vaccinated before the Government-subsidised campaign ends on July 31.
The seasonal flu peak is slightly later than previous years, said Jill Stringer, communications manager at Wairarapa & Hutt Valley DHBs.
Ministry of Health figures show vaccinations in Wairarapa have reached 12,060 this year, the highest number since 2009.
"By the end of June we were already almost 2000 doses of vaccination up on last year," said Ms Stringer.
Three types of influenza virus are covered by the 2013 seasonal influenza vaccine, said Dr Lance Jennings, a virologist and spokesperson for the National Influenza Specialist Group (NISG).
