KEY POINTS:
Arnie and Jack Schwenke feel very honoured to be chosen to switch on the laser show at Starlight Symphony in the Auckland Domain tonight.
They were picked for the role by the concert's official charity, Make A Wish, which is dedicated to fulfilling the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses.
The brothers, aged 8 and 6, have a rare genetic disorder called adrenoleucodystrophy which will cause their physical and mental skills to deteriorate over time.
Last year the Schwenke family had a break from hospitals when the charity sent them on a holiday to the Gold Coast.
Arnie had his wish granted when he met the All Blacks on the way home from Australia, and tonight Jack will have his wish realised when he and Arnie are picked up from their Te Atatu home and driven to the Domain in a Hummer.
Their mother, Natalie Schwenke, said the Make A Wish gifts had been "heart-warming and overwhelming".
The boys will help their cousins and aunts collect gold-coin donations for Make A Wish at tonight's event.
Starlight Symphony, headlined by singer-songwriter Brooke Fraser and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, starts at 7.30pm.
If weather is too bad the concert will be postponed until tomorrow.
Information on cancellations will be posted on its sponsor Skycity's website, and on radio stations The Breeze (93.4 Auckland) and MoreFM (91.8 Auckland) from 1pm today.
