If you thought Auckland traffic was bad, then you should never go to the United States during the Thanksgiving holiday period.
Aerial footage posted on the ABC News Twitter feed shows bumper-to-bumper traffic in Los Angeles as Americans get a head start on their Thanksgiving outings.
Thousands, if not millions, of cars can be seen moving at a snails pace across twelve lanes of traffic, with the front and rear lights of the vehicles creating a trance-like display, missing only the blue from the country's signature colours.
The American Automobile Association has calculated that a total of 50.9 million people are expected to hit the roads and skies for Thanksgiving tomorrow, November 23, with 45 million of those travelling by car.
The worst travel times were expected to be between 3-6pm the day before the holiday as holiday traffic mixes with work commuters, however, the worst traffic is expected between 7am-5pm on Monday as people return home.
