Firefighters are battling a large house fire in Invercargill.
A Fire Service spokesman said firefighters from Invercargill Station were called to a house fire in Ettrick St at 5.40pm.
When the crew arrived the house was "well involved" and three crews from Invercargill Station and one crew from Kingswell Station had contained the fire in the 130sq m house.
Firefighters were searching the house for people, he said.
The cause of the fire was unknown and a fire investigator had been called.
