A large grass fire is burning on the road to Port Waikato.
Fire Service spokeswoman Dallas Ramsay said the fire was on the side of the Port Waikato Rd, in the vicinity of Klondyke Rd.
Ms Ramsay said the Fire Service received the call just after 12.30pm.
Three fire crews were at the scene at 1.30pm with a tanker and three more crews were on the way.
Two helicopters were being sent to the scene by Rural Fire Authority.
