KEY POINTS:
Firefighters are dampening down after battling a large blaze in a two-storey Christchurch house this morning.
Fire Service communications centre spokesman Lance Johnston said firefighters were called to the house in Nottingham Ave, in Oaklands suburb, just after 10.30am.
The house, believed to have been unoccupied, was well alight, Mr Johnston told NZPA.
Firefighters took about 50 minutes to control the blaze and were expected to be dampening the badly damaged building for at least another hour.
No one was hurt.
Mr Johnston said the cause of the fire was unknown.
