Firefighters have spent the night battling a fire that ripped through a mushroom factory in Christchurch overnight.
Eleven fire crews attended the blaze at Meadow Mushrooms on Springs Rd that started at about 6.20pm.
It is believed to have started in the mushroom storage area and spread to surrounding vegetation.
A building at the back of the factory on Edward St was also in flames and was being treated as a separate fire, said fire communications spokesman Mau Barbara.
The fire was brought under control last night but one crew remained at the property, "dampening down and attending hotspots".
