Lansdowne Cricket Club is to contest the national interclub limited-overs championships in February next year.
Their entry was confirmed yesterday by chairman Mark Brown, who said it would provide an excellent opportunity for the club's premier players to pit their skills against the best from other provinces throughout Central Districts and New Zealand.
Lansdowne will be the first Wairarapa club side to take part in the event and they earned the right to enter by winning the Umpire's Cup limited-overs competition last season.
Brown said Lansdowne had already commenced pre-season training at the Masterton Indoor Centre on Ngaumutawa Road on Sundays, starting at 3pm.
He said they would be fielding one premier and two open grade sides in 2012-13 as well as the usual junior line-ups.
