A car used as David Lange's prime ministerial limo is for sale on Trade Me.
The 1985 Ford Falcon LTD was a Crown car from 1985 to 1986 and is listed for $12,000.
The sale comes as politicians debate whether ministers should get new BMW limos.
Owner Andrew Lepper bought it seven years ago and put it on show at the Yaldhurst Car Museum in Christchurch.
The mushroom-coloured Falcon had the number plate CR1 in 1985.
Its roomy, plush interior, converted radio telephone and air conditioning indicated its former use, said Lepper.
"The Crown cars were also a distinctive colour. It wasn't a colour you could go into your Ford dealer and get," said Lepper.
It was decommissioned as a Crown car in 1989 and sold to another Christchurch owner before Lepper bought it for "a few thousand dollars".
A number of potential buyers had expressed an interest after being drawn to the car's history.
