All northbound lanes on Auckland's Northern Motorway have been re-opened following successful repairs to a loose overhead sign.
The New Zealand Transport Agency said strong winds damaged the sign, situated on a gantry at Onewa Rd on-ramp north of the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
Two right-hand lanes were closed to allow emergency repairs to be carried out and ensure the sign didn't fall on to the motorway. Repairs have since been completed, a spokesman for the agency said.
Traffic remains heavy in the area.
The emergency repairs also delayed the afternoon run of a machine which shifts the concrete barrier on the bridge to provide five northbound lanes for evening traffic.
