Land Transport New Zealand will provide $180 million to construct the Northern Motorway extension toll road from Orewa to Puhoi, Transit New Zealand said today.
The funding would enable the Northern Gateway Alliance which is managing the project to remain on track to complete construction by mid 2009, Transit Auckland regional manager Richard Hancy said.
Construction began in December following an advance of $26 million from the transport fund, he said.
The total project is costing $365 million and the remaining $185 million would be repaid through tolls.
The latest money comes from the National Land Transport Fund.
