Land sales to overseas buyers is once again in the spotlight, with Greens co-leader Russel Norman having a bill to protect such land, drawn from the parliamentary ballot today.
65 bills were in the ballot, with only four drawn.
Dr Norman says it's the first time he's had a bill drawn and he's pleased it's on one involving such an important issue.
He says his bill seeks to ensure land parcels over five hectares in size stay in New Zealand hands.
"It will be an uphill battle. National have certainly shown that they're very intent on flogging off as much New Zealand land as they possibly can, Labour of course flogged off masses of New Zealand land when they were in government, so we'll see how we go, but I think the New Zealand public will support it."
