A lamp post has come down on Auckland's Northwestern Motorway causing traffic disruption.
Police received calls about 20 minutes ago saying a broken lamp post was hanging over one lane of the motorway just before the Rosebank Rd
off-ramp.
One west-bound lane is blocked and police are directing traffic.
They say no vehicles have been hit by the post.
However one witness told nzherald.co.nz his car was almost hit as the post toppled over.
Mike Harvey said the pole was leaning against the median barrier as he approached but it fell just metres in front of his vehicle and he was only able to avoid being hit by moving quickly into the outer lane.
"It's just lucky there were no cars there," he said.
