Lamborghini is moving a step closer to a four-door to rival the Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera, according to reports in Europe.
The appearance of a sedan was fuelled by the Estoque concept at the 2008 Paris motor Show. Later, a crossover concept to take on the Porsche Cayenne was developed.
But reports say both are now possible by increased integration across the Volkswagen empire.
The company is reportedly building prototypes to be evaluated by the top brass, and decided upon in time for the company's 50th anniversary a couple of years from now.
The crossover, based on the next-generation Porsche Cayenne, is reportedly the more favoured proposition, potentially sporting a sloping roofline like the BMW X6 but with only two doors and a considerably higher price point.
