Dr Tony Bierre, head of Labtests - the majority Australian-owned company awarded a controversial $560 million laboratory testing contract by Greater Auckland's three district health boards - has resigned from one of them, the Auckland District board.
Dr Bierre, a pathologist elected in 2004 as a Citizens and Ratepayers Now candidate, resigned to focus on implementing the contract.
