Kuranui College will be aiming to maintain their reputation as the best of the three college sides contesting this season's Netball Wairarapa premier one competition when they play Wairarapa College at the Colombo road courts in Masterton tomorrow.
A comfortable win over defending champions St Matthew's Collegiate a few weeks back represented a notable first for Kuranui at premier one level and currently they sit second on the points table, just two behind unbeaten Harcourts.
Wairarapa College, on the other hand, have had just the one win in four matches with their latest loss coming at the hands of St Matthew's in a game which saw the latter dominate the last quarter, scoring 13 goals then to Wairarapa College's two.
An interesting aspect of that match was the willingness of Wairarapa College to utilise their full reserve bench during the course of the match and whether that helped or hindered their cause is debatable. If they adopt a less liberal approach in that regard they could at least give Kuranui a headache or two.
In the other premier one match tomorrow Sports Arena Carterton, who certainly did not disgrace themselves in their latest encounter with Harcourts, should have the edge on Salute Greytown.
Monday's night's premier one draw for the Genesis Recreation Centre sees St Matthew's College playing Carterton Red and Gladstone All Blacks up against Harcourts.
St Matthew's are still in a rebuilding phase but should have too many guns for a Carterton Red side still to chalk up their first win while Harcourts will be all the rage against Gladstone All Blacks despite the latter's improved form of late.
Kuranui aim high
