Kokomai festival adds to creative weekend

Wairarapa comes alive this Labour Weekend with music, performances and a carnival-inspired parade.

There are plenty of weekend activities as the first Kokomai creative festival heats up.

Top musicians from the US and Ireland come together tonight as The Southgate Band, fusing traditional music style in one special gig.

The Carterton Events Centre will be filled with inspiring speakers at Wairarapa's first PechaKucha night.

Gypsy jazz duo La Petite Manouche and the Aroha String Quartet will let loose in South Wairarapa.

There is a huge range of art and design exhibitions on throughout the district and the finale of the festival, a masked parade, will be held in Queen Elizabeth Park in Masterton.

Toast Martinborough sell-out

Toast tickets were eventually snapped up, as anticipated by general manager Rachael Fletcher.

On Tuesday, she said there was still a small number of tickets left. They went on sale on October 2 took over 20 days to sell.

Compared to last year, sales were slower than usual - last year, the 10,000 tickets sold out within a day.
