Knox back on song in hospital

Musician Chris Knox has sung his wife Happy Birthday as he embarks on the slow road to recovery from the stroke he suffered a week ago.

Knox has been recovering in Auckland Hospital with his wife Barbara and two children, Liesha and John Ward-Knox, at his side.

Family friend Roy Martyn has been blogging on Knox's condition and day-to-day recovery, to keep his fans in the loop. Martyn said Knox had "plenty" of visitors in the past week. Friday was a particularly good day.

"Today is Barbara's birthday and, after a bit of prompting, Chris nailed the melody of Happy Birthday.

"Chris is in a good mood, and although we are learning to be very careful about being too optimistic, I can't help feeling that he's improving."
