A 33-year-old woman holding a knife to another woman's throat in a central Wellington office was tasered by police yesterday evening.
Police were called to an office block in Courtenay Place about 4.30pm.
When officers arrived at the sixth-floor office they found a woman restraining a 32-year-old woman with one hand and holding a knife to her throat with the other, Inspector Richard Chambers said.
Talking with the woman had no effect so the officers decided to taser her.
"The knife was dropped and the victim released, preventing her from serious harm."
The 33-year-old woman was charged with threatening to kill, assault with a weapon and possession of an offensive weapon.
She appeared in Wellington District Court today and she was remanded on bail.
