The man who stabbed Paul Chong to death after a disagreement over a drug deal will spend at least 11 years in jail.
Clem William James Pepene, 29, was sentenced in the High Court in Auckland today to life imprisonment with a minimum non-parole period of 11 years.
Pepene was found guilty in October of murdering Mr Chong, who was found stabbed at an industrial and commercial property in View Rd, Glenfield in May last year.
Justice Christine French said the murder happened after a disagreement during a methamphetamine deal over how much money Mr Chong should pay.
The crime was committed while Pepene was subject to release conditions, having been freed from prison five weeks earlier.
