A customer attacked a staff member with a knife at direct sales company Amway's head warehouse in the Auckland suburb of East Tamaki this afternoon.
The incident happened at about 2.20pm after an argument took place between a female customer and a female warehouse worker.
The customer attacked the worker, who suffered deep cuts to her hand and head while trying to defend herself.
The woman remained at the scene until police arrived and was taken away in handcuffs. The injured worker was taken to hospital where she is being treated for her injuries.
Police said her injuries were not life-threatening and they were still trying to establish what happened.
Inspector Danny Meade said several people at the scene had been spoken to by police but no one had yet been arrested or charged.
He said the staff members's injuries were moderate rather than serious.
The alleged attacker is now helping police with inquiries.
Police, who recovered a knife from the scene, said nothing was yet known about the reason for the attack or the relationship, if any, between the two women.
Amway sells a variety of products, primarily in the health, beauty and home care markets.
